Spread the Word to End the Word From Mrs. Gordon and Mrs. Wheeler

This week marks our 4th year recognizing the "Spread the Word to End the Word" campaign at BHS. Many words can be used to describe people, but the R-word is NOT one of them. We ask that you think about the use of the R-word and make a conscious effort to omit it from your everyday vocabulary. Help us "Spread the Love" by treating each other with respect.
Our theme is “Spread the Love”. This year we are privileged enough to work with Stevie Hopkins, who not only designed and made our apparel, but has an amazing story and will be speaking at the high school on Friday, March 7th.
Brent Baker from Byron Bank, and Marty Grant from Stillman Bank presented each of the January students of the month a gift card for their achievement.
Darien Teafoe has been named February BHS Student Employee of the Month. Darien works at McDonalds as a dining attendant and in the Mary Morgan library as a librarian assistant.
Congratulations BHS! From Mr. Flater

Peter Hodapp Appointment to Naval Academy! From Mr. Egan
Peter recently received (and accepted) an appointment to the US Naval Academy. Receiving an appointment to a military academy is a tremendous honor. Not only must students be academically AND athletically qualified, they must also receive an appointment from a US Congressman. (A congressional district only gets 4 appointments in any academy at a given time.) Competition for an appointment is extremely rigorous and involves multiple interviews, in addition to academic and athletic tests. Historically, the acceptance/appointment rate for an academy is less than 10%.
Peter is following in the footsteps of his two other brothers that both graduated from the Naval Academy. Congratulations to Peter and his family for this accomplishment!
